3.8. How can I check to see if there is an update available?

At anytime, you can check to see if there are any Updates/Upgrades available for this product.
To perform this task, just run the program.  Click on the Help menu from the main screen, then click on Check for Updates.

This will tell the program to check our web site for any available Upgrades/Updates.  If one is available, it will prompt you that there is an update available and ask you if you wish to download and install it.  If you choose to do so, just follow the prompts that come up.  Your system will then ask you to restart the program, which will run the installation of the Updates/Upgrade.  Just select the defaults and you should be good to go and the new version will be installed.

All Updates/Upgrades are available at no charge for a period of One (1) year from the original date of purchase.  Unless you are current on our Support/Upgrades/Updates licensing, I would not suggest upgrading or updating, as you may need to purchase the upgrade/update.

If the update is for the same Major Version, such as 3.20 and you already purchase a version 3.xx version, you will not need to purchase the upgrade.  Only when it upgrades to say version 4.xx, as the major version number changed.  As your original registration codes are valid though the full major version cycle.

Select Groups: This field is used to select only addresses that have been defined as part of Group.

Address Grid: This grid displays all the records in the database. It is displayed alphabetically and is also selected by the Group field selection.

Sort Field: This field is only used to sort the record in the Address Grid. We use this so we can place records in an order that makes sense to us. Such as - Smith, John, instead of John Smith. This allows for the record to be displayed in the "S" area of the grid instead of the "J" area.

Address: This is the actual Mailing address that will be sent to the envelope. It contains the Name, Address, City, State, Zip, etc. You can use up to 5 lines for the address field.

Attn: This is a field that will print next to the Attn: area of the envelope. Only use this if you want to have an attention printed on the envelope.

we have added a menu option under the Edit menu, which states, Delete
ALL records from Address database.

When you are done, you can click on the "Load" button
to select the selected record to be placed on the main screen to
be used for printing an envelope.

4.4. Concatenating fields while importing addresses

To concatenate the fields using the import wizard you need to use this during
the import option.  Run the Import option, then during the mapping portion,
you need to key in the following into the mapping Source associated to the
proper address field.

(C + ", " + D + "  " + E)

Where C = City
Where D = State
Where E = Zip

This is based on the assumption that you are using an Excel spreadsheet to
import.  Other file types are done the same way.

Here is an example of concatenating fields in a csv file where you need to concatenate the first and last names.  In the example, the fields are Field1 = Last Name, Field2 = First name.

You will see the layout on the next screen with the results of the mappings.  And you may need to tweak it as it depends on your data.

Here is a picture of the results for this particular selection.

4.6. Adding a new printer to be used in program.

If you would like to add another printer to be used in the program, just follow these instructions.

Run the program, click on the Options menu on the Main screen.  Then click on the Printers Settings/Options.

This will display the Printers Setup Screen for the program.

To add a new printer to be used, you need to click on Edit and select New Record.

After you add a record, you need to give it a Name.  This is used internally in the program and is not the System name of the actual printer.  So you can call it anything you wish.

Then you need to describe to the program information about the printer as to how you would feed the envelopes, along with the direction and orientation.

After you are done describing the printer, you can select the Close button and your record will be saved and ready for usage.

You will need to select the printer to be used on the main screen then assign it to the actual system printer in the Printer Dialog box when you select to print an envelope.  The system should save this information for the next time you use this printer.

5. How to

5.1. How do I set up a new database on my system to use.

To create a new database on your system, all you need to do is to follow these instructions.

1. Run the software.
2. Click on the File menu on the main screen, then select Open/Create Database or press Ctrl-O.
3. Select a location on your system to store the database in.  You can create a folder from this screen also if you do not have one ready to be used.  Select OK, and you will be told that there is no database in the folder, and one will be created.  The application will shut down, and when you run it again, it will create a new one in that location for you to use and setup.

You can switch between multiple databases if you have set up multiple ones.

5.2. Backup my Database to send to Support Staff.

Here are the instructions to backup your database and send to the StarreSoft staff for assessment.

Run the Backup Restore application directly from the Windows Start Menu as displayed below.

This will run the Backup Restore application.

When the Backup Restore application is displayed as shown above, you need to click on the folder button to the right of the Name field as shown. This will allow you to direct the application as to where you want to save the backup file.

The best location for you to use is probably your Desktop, as it is easy to find.  But, you can use whatever location on your system you want.  When the location has been selected, click on the Save button.

This will return you to the main display of the Backup Restore application.  You will then click on the Backup Button.  This will create a copy of your database and store it in the listed .zip file, and of course save it to your selected location.

The application will tell you the Backup Completed - Click Exit.  So please do so.

This will end the Backup application.

Now that you have a backup of your database, you will need to either attach it to the Help Ticket, or attach it to the email that was sent.  I will show you both options, as I am not sure which option you are using to communicate with us.

First, here is how you attach the database backup to the Help Ticket Directly.

The direct access to the Help Ticket should look something like this.  Please reply with statement, then click on the Choose File to attach the backup file to the ticket.

This will open up the window to select the backup file.  You will need to select the location you stored the backup to, here we are using the Desktop location.  Select the backup file you just created, then click Open.

You will see the name of the backup file displayed, then click Update Request.  This will cause the Help Desk to send your backup file to us for review.

And of course will update the ticket with the file attached.

If you are not using the Help Desk directly, and are instead conversing using email, then please reply to the email and attach the backup file to the email.  Either option works, just want to explain both for you.

I will not show you the actual steps to attach a file to your email application as there are too many out there to explain each one.  If you need help on this, please consult your email products help or support information.

After this has been completed, that is all you need to do at this time.  We will review the database and proceed from there with further instructions.

6. FAQ's

6.1. Program runs but does not show - just waits then disapears

When I installed the program and tried to run it, it looks like it wants to run, but just waits then disappears.

The problem could be the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) option in the system is not allowing this to run.  To correct this, follow the options below.

Click on the Windows Start Button.
Click on the Control Panel
Click on System and Security
Click on the System Selection
Click on the Advanced System Settings
Click on the Advanced Tab
Click on the Performance Settings
Click on the Data Execution Prevention Tab
If the option is set to Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select.  Then you should add Star Envelope Printer Pro to your options.  To do this just follow the options below.
Click on the Add button.  Browse to the folder called Program Files, then Star Envelope Printer Pro, then select STARENV.exe, and click on the Open Button.  Then click Apply, or OK buttons.  This will add the program to the exception list.  Just close the windows and try running the program again.  It should execute now.

Or, you can just change the option to Turn on DEP for Essential Windows Programs and services only.  Then you will need to re-boot and everything should work for you.

6.2. My Return Address is printing about 1 1/2 inches to the right

Based on an assumption, you need to change a setting in the program
to make the envelopes print correctly.  All you need to do is to
change the Printer Settings to tell the system that you are printing
to an InkJet printer, which basically feeds the envelopes inverted,
or upside down.  This setting can be accessed by clicking on the Menu
Options, then Printer Settings/Options.

Then just click on the selection that states Env. Direction: Inverted - Upside down.  After
changing this, your envelopes will print with the return addresses over to the left side of the envelope where it belongs.  Along with the rest of the print will be correct.

6.3. How do I setup my printer to accept different sized envelopes

More than likely you have never setup your printer options in the program.
To correctly setup your printer to work correctly with this software you must
follow these instructions to setup your printer.

If you do not have the program running, then run the program.
Click on the Options Menu, then click on Printer Settings/Options.  This will
display the Printer Settings/Options screen.  This screen is used to setup the
printer(s) that you have access to.

The first area displayed is a grid that shows you the printers that
are setup in the system. If you have not set anything up before,
you should have one called Default. We will use this one to set
up with your printer connected to your system.

The first field displayed is called the Printer Name. This is not
associated with the actual printer installed on your system, it is just
name that was given to let you know which setup is for what printer.

The next area is a very important one. This actually tells the program
how to load and print to the envelopes on your printer. Be sure to
make sure this section is setup correctly.

Env. Direction: This is the Envelope Direction that describes to the
program which direction your Envelope is fed into your printer. Every printer on the market seems to be designed a little bit different,
so we cannot assume which way it is fed. Normally if using a Laser
Printer, they are facing up, which means that the top face of the envelope
faces up, so you would select that option. Most InkJet Printers actually
feed the envelope upside down through the printer, so we added the
option - Inverted - Upside down/InkJet. Select the option that suits your
printer.

Feeder Position: - This is the Feeder Position option that describes to the
program where the envelope feeder is located on your printer.  You have
a choice of either Left, Center, or Right. Select where your printer
feeds the envelopes from.

Orientation: - This is the Orientation option that describes to the program
how the envelope printing is oriented on your printer. Most print in Landscape
mode, but there are few out there that actually prints in a portrait mode.
Select the one that is correct for your own printer.

Feeder Type:  Here is a list of options that describe where the printer feeds
from. It normally would be the Envelope Feeder, but if your printer does not
have an Envelope printer feed, then select the appropriate setting.

If you do not have this area setup correctly, then more than likley you will
be having problems printing to the different sized envelopes.

This system by default only uses these settings for envelopes other than
#10 size.

Just thought I would mention this in case you have printed to #10 envelopes
correctly before running into a problem on other sized envelopes.

If you have any questions, please view the Help text in the program, or check
our web site at www.starenv.com.

6.4. How Do I Select The Envelope I Wish To Print To?

From the main screen, use the drop down box located near the top right. There it lists all of the envelopes available to print to, including any custom envelopes you may have created. Scroll down to select the desired envelope.

After you have printed your envelope, if you select Exit at the top of the screen, it will ask you if you would like to change the default envelope to the one you had selected. Either make your selection or to avoid seeing this message, click the X in the upper right corner of the program to close instead of Exit.

6.5. How do I Alphabetize the Mailing Addresses

To alphabetize the names, Select the Addresses button on the main screen and use the Sort Name field.  You can place whatever you want in this field that is used to sort the records.
Using this field allows you to user whatever sorting scheme you wish and are not
limited to the Names, either First, Last, etc.

Click on 'Name' or 'Group' to sort the columns alphabetically or by groups.

6.6. How does the Jump work

The Jump to field is used to quickly Jump to a name in the current database.
It is basically connected to the Sort Field in the database.  As you type into the Jump to field, the database selection Jumps to the associated address. This obviously means that you have to have data in the Sort field of the records.
It is also Case Sensitive so if you enter STARRE, it will not jump to the correct record if you have multiple 'S' records.  This is important for the function to work correctly.

6.7. How do I setup Groups

To create Groups in the system, you first need to define them. To do this, click on the Options, then Groups. This will display the Groups maintenance screen. You can add whatever Groups you wish here.

When finished adding Groups, just exit the program and restart it.

On your Address Maintenance section, you can assign each address to a group. To assign an Address to a group, select the Address Name. At the bottom of the screen use the pull down box under "Groups" to assign it to a specific Group.

6.8. How do I view/print out the address database after I have entered addresses?

On the main screen select File --> Additional Print Options --> Then select either Preview or Print

6.9. How do I select all to print in the Batch process

On the main screen select File --> Additional Print Options --> Batch Printing.

You can select any entry box you wish to print or select all the boxes displayed by clicking on the Edit menu, then Select All.  Or, you can just press Ctrl-A.  This will do the same thing.

You can also sort out the groups by selecting a group first then your Ctrl-A to select all of
them to print.

After you click Print, a box will come up asking you to Confirm printing all selected envelopes.

Click Yes and the information will be sent to your printer.

6.10. How do I remove the Attn: from printing

Instructions to remove the Attn: prefix from printing on the envelopes.

Run the program, click on Options, Return Address Options. This will display the Return Address Options. There is a check box that states: Print "Attn:" in front of Attn: field. Leave the box unchecked.

This needs to be performed for each Return Address that you would like this done for.

6.11. How do I know what version I am running?

On the main screen click on Help then click About.

The software version information will be displayed.

6.12. How do I obtain an older version of the software that was purchased?

Unfortunately we do not store the older versions of the software on our servers. They are only stored and are available until their support expiration date which is usually around 1 year after a new version is released. Because they are not stored, please do not ask if you can get an old copy of the software, because we do not keep them after this period. Hopefully you made a copy of the software when you originally downloaded it and installed. If not, the only option available is to purchase the upgrade, which is available via our web site located at: http://www.starresoft.com/envupurchase

Here you can purchase the latest version at a discounted price. You will need your original registration codes during the purchase process. If you need a copy of those, just ask us via the help desk and we can send those via email.

6.13. How to Import Addresses from an Excel spreadsheet

Here are the instructions to import data from an Excel spreadsheet
into the Address database.

The first thing you need to have in the Excel database is the data
separated into different columns.  Such as the following:

Column A - Name
Column B - Address 1

Column D - Address 3

Or, you can have it set up to include a separate City, State, Zip fields.

Column A - Name
Column B - Address 1
Column C - Address 2
Column D - City
Column E - State
Column F - Zip/Postal Code
Column G - Country

After this is accomplished, then we can go ahead and import into the Address
database.

Run the program.  Click on the Options menu, then Import/Export Mailing Addresses,
then Import Addresses.

This will display the Import selection screen.

You will need to select which type of address layout you are about to import.  Either the

Column Heading for each column.  This will display the fields in the Address file, just
select the one for each column of data you have.  When you are done, you can click on the Next button.

This screen will display the Mappings.  Here you can assign the Columns in your Excel file
to the fields in the Address file.  Just click on the Source fields, to display the Columns
that are in your Excel spreadsheet.

Be sure to assign the name field to the Sort Name along with the Address Name.  This is needed otherwise you will not have a Sort Name assigned and it will appear that the database is empty.   After you are done assigning the data to the fields,
just click on the Next button.

You will then be displayed the data assignments with the data from your Excel file.
You can click on the Back button if something does not fit right.  When satisfied with the
results, click on the Next button.

This is the last screen to actually Execute the Importing.  You can Append the data, or Copy into the file.  After this selection is completed, click on the Execute button to import the data.

If you make a mistake, and want to clear the data and import again, just click on the Addresses button to display the addresses screen.  Click on the Edit Menu, then Delete All the records from the Address Database.

It is a little long winded, but if you follow these instructions you should be able to Import
with ease.  These same instructions are good for other database types too.

6.14. Adding Grouping Constant during import procedure.

This is the preview on an 8½ X 11 sheet of paper but would be correct on the envelope you have selected
and loaded into your printer.

Do not change the System Options setting just to make the preview look like the first image.
This could affect the communication between the program and your printer and may not print the desired results.

6.18. How do I Backup the data files?

The backup feature is accessible from one of two ways. The first is from inside the program. After running the software select from the Main Screen off the File Menu. Then, select Backup/Restore Data, then Backup/Save Data Files to Archives.

This will prompt you to create a zip file of all the files used in the Envelope Printer Pro program. It prompts you for a name for the file to be created for your backup.

The second way to backup the data files is to access it from the Windows Start button.  Just click on it, then select All Programs, Star Envelope Printer Pro, Utilities, Data Backup - Restore Utility.

This will prompt you to create a zip file of all the files used in the Envelope Printer Pro program. It prompts you for a name for the file to be created for your backup.

There is also a Restore feature that is accessible the same way. Just select the Restore Previously Saved Data from Archives. This will restore the files that you previously backed up and replace what is currently being used in the system.

6.19. How do I Restore the data files

You can run a backup of the data files at anytime as long as there is no one using the program (if using the Network Edition). The program will create a zip file of all your data files and can be stored anywhere on your system, network drive, flash drive, etc. Our example saves it to the C:\ drive. To perform this operation just follow the steps below.

There are to ways to arrive at the Backup/Restore Utility.

This will reverse the addresses that are printed on the envelope.

One thing I should note, do not use a logo as the original logo stays assigned to the return address and will print with the return address.  Unless you want that to happen. You can just click or uncheck the Print Logo Image option on the main screen to turn it off if you are using one and don't want it to print.

6.25. How do I get the POSTNET bar code to print.

Sorry, as of January 28, 2013 the POSTNET bar code is no longer in use or supported by the USPS. It was originally discontinued in the Fall of 2009.

If you moved the data folder and files to a different location, you will need to point this program to the new location of the data files.  If this is the case, just click on the Set Location button, browse to your new location and click OK.  Then Exit the program and this will tell the software where to access the data files on your system.

6.28. Can you suggest a printer that works well with this software?

We have been using this software for years using an older HP LaserJet 5, with an external Envelope feeder, and it works perfect.  We also use in house an older HP LaserJet 1200 series printer as well with no problems. Of course, these are pretty old printers and a bit on the costly side.  You can still obtain these printers off of Ebay, at a great price.

Anyway, since we felt this was a common question, we are working on creating a list of printers that function well with this software.  We are also adding the settings in the program that work with these printers. You will find this list below.  We will be adding to it as we test out new/different printers or as customers send in their own printer information.

Printer Model/Mfg

HP LaserJet 5 Normal Center Landscape
XEROX Phaser 6130 Normal Center Landscape
HP 8250 InkJet Inverted Right Landscape
HP 6100 InkJet Inverted Right Landscape
Brother HL-2170W Normal Center Landscape
HP 1200 Laser Normal Center Landscape
HP 5610xi Inverted Right Landscape

To be continued....

6.29. Does Star Envelope Printer Pro support 64-bit Windows?

YES!

The same installer can be used on 32-bit or 64 bit Windows.

6.30. Issues displaying everything on the screen - Sizing/Scaling issue.

You can try a couple of things. First try this.

Reset Internal Settings

If that does not help then: Then this is a problem with your display settings. You have a custom scaling setting in Windows 7/Vista/XP that is not compatible with this software. You probably have the scaling set at 125% or 150% which is causing this issue. You need to change the scaling back to 100% for this to be compatible.

You can try to turn it off on this application by following these instructions: To turn it off do this, right-click the application's shortcut and then click Properties. On the Compatibility tab, select Disable Display Scaling On High DPI Settings, and then click OK.

If this does not work, then you would need to change the display scaling back to 100% by following these instructions: 1. In Control Panel, click Appearance And Personalization. 2. Under the Display heading, click Make Text And Other Items Larger Or Smaller. 3. The default scaling options allow you to choose a 100-percent scale (the default), and then click Apply. 4. You will need to log off the user and then log on the user again for the changes to take effect.

On a Windows 10 Machine, just right click on the DeskTop, then select Display Settings. Make sure the Scale and Layout is set to 100%.

6.31. How can I clear/reset all the internal settings (registry entries) saved for this program?

Sometimes when you just need to clear the internal settings that have been stored for this program, be it the screen sizing, printer driver settings, etc., you just need to perform a reset of the saved settings.

This does not remove your data, such as addresses, etc., just the internal settings that are stored in your system registry.  When you run the software, these are automatically saved and re-created.

If your program is not functioning correctly, there may be a setting that is causing the issue.  So the easiest way to reset everything is to download and run the following program from our web site.

The program called - starenvclearregistry.exe is available from here:

http://www.starre.com/downloads/starenvclearregistry.exe

Download the program and run it.

You will be displayed the following screen.

Star Envelope Printer Pro Clear Registry Main screen

Click on the Process Button to run the process.

The process will go out and clear the entries for the Star Envelope Printer Pro software.  Upon completion, you will be displayed the following screen.

That's all there is to it.  Now you can re-run the Star Envelope Printer Pro software, which will create all new entries upon execution of the software.

6.36. Does this software automatically update/upgrade to the latest versions?

Does this software automatically update/upgrade to the latest versions?

The answer is NO!

The only way it upgrades/updates is if you ask it to perform an update. And all of our updates and upgrades are perfomed with a full installation procedure that you have to answer manually to run the installation. This is done by clicking on the New Version Available button, or clicking on the Help menu, then Check for Updates.

This will call and see if there is an update, or upgrade available. If on is available, it will ask you if you want to download and upgrade the software. It will also inform you that if you are not current with your Support/Upgrades/Updates license (meaning if you purchased the software within the last 365 days) that the upgrade may not be free.

To help explain or further clarify this, here are some explanations.

If you have say version 5.1, and version 5.6 is available for download, then this is a free upgrade no matter when you purchased it.

If you have version 5.1 and version 6.0 is available for download, then it is only free if you had originally purchased within the last 365 days. Otherwise there is an upgrade fee that would need to be paid to obtain the new Registration Codes to unlock the software from a Trial version.

If you have any concerns or do not know if you are eligible for an upgrade, please just ask us and we will let you know your eligibility status.

But to repeat, we do not automatically update or upgrade the software ever, as this option is not available in our software.

If you have some sort of automatic software running that checks for updates and performs the installation for you, there is nothing we can do about it because this is out of our control.

7.12. Printer Setup for Brother MFC-J5845DW printer

You will need to adjust the Envelope Printing Position Settings to get the software to print correctly on a Brother MFC-J5845DW as follows.

Otherwise it will cut off the left side of the return Address/Logo, Attention field.  This is an issue with this printer as it starts with a margin that does not seem to be adjustable in the driver settings.

8. Vista Issues

8.1. Vista Problem - Will not run

For some reason the program is not pointing to the correct location for the data files. You can either delete the registry entry for the software, which I believe is under - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro
Then re-install the software. This may correct it.

Or, you need to find the actual location of the data files on your system. Vista does some funny things with the locations of data files, they can either be at:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro\data
or,
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro\data
or, even
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro\data
If you find the data files, you can change the Registry settings to point to the data files. This is done using the Workstation Configuration Setup Utility, it can be run from the Windows Start Button, All Programs, Star Envelope Printer Pro, Utilities, Workstation Configuration Setup Utility.
Then point it to where the data resides.

One other idea is this: Turn off the UAC control to see if it works then, it may be a security issue with Vista.

8.2. Error while unpacking program, Code 2. Please report to author

Error while unpacking program, Code 2. Please report to author" error when launching or installing a Starre product.

Problem:
When launching or installing a Starre Desktop product on a Windows Vista Operating System, the following error may appear:

Error while unpacking program, Code 2. Please report to author

Note: This error may occur when using the following Starre software:

Star Envelope Printer Pro
Star Check Writer
Star Fax Cover Sheet Creator
Star Quotes
Star Bill of Lading
Star EZ Inventory

Cause:
Microsoft released a new security update for Windows Vista on July 11, 2011 (KB2533623) that has caused problems with certain software.  Problems that may occur include not being able to launch or install certain third party applications on Microsoft Windows Vista.

Solution:
We are aware of this issue and are currently working with Microsoft to resolve the problem.  Until this issue is resolved, the only way to continue using the Starre application is to remove the specific Microsoft update.

To remove this KB2533623 Windows Update, follow the steps below:

Click "Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features".
Click the "View installed updates" link on the left side of the window.
Locate the "Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2533623)" update.
Select the KB2533623 update and then click the "Uninstall" button.
Once the update has been removed, restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, confirm that the Starre Desktop application can now be launched or installed.

9. Errors

9.1. I am getting a Paper Size Mismatch Error

There is a setting in the printer that will allow you to turn off the paper size mismatch. I do not know exactly where, but you can check the printer manufacturer for details on turning this off. Then the program should work fine for you.

Basically the problem is this.  Your printer has a laser that checks the size of the paper in the printer before printing.  This is because it is designed for printing photos and needs to know the exact size of the photo paper.  Because of issues with Windows, we have to actually trick the printer to print non-standard sized envelopes on a full sheet of paper, while making all the adjustments of the print to print to fit on the defined envelope size.  This is how we can print to any sized envelope.  Now, since your printer is checking the size of the medium to print to, it is causing this error.  This error only seems to happen on printers designed to print photos.  Hope this explains the issue.

A customer wrote in with the following... On an HP 6500 - I turned off the paper sensor by selecting "plain paper" in lieu of "automatic" and it now prints without the "paper mismatch".

Another customer wrote in with the following... Change print quality to "draft", looks like it does not check the paper size on draft setting.

9.2. Windows has encountered an Error and needs to close.

The issue you are having is a security issue. The other users on this machine do not have full read/write access to the programs data files that were installed. These files should be installed at: C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro\data. You have a couple of options. You can install the software under each user, this way it will create the new database files only for that user, or you can either copy the data files to a shared location, then point the software to access the data from that shared location. If you choose the later, just run the Workstation Configuration Setup Utility. This is found under the Windows Start menu, All Programs, Star Envelope Printer Pro, Utilities, Workstation Configuration Setup Utility. Either way will work, but the second option they will share the data so that on set of addresses are used. The choice is up to you.

9.3. Logo Size too big causing many pages to print to printer

More than likely you have a logo loaded to print on the envelopes that is too large in size.  This program does not auto-size your logo for you.  If it is too large, this can cause the problem described.

If you can re-size it yourself.  Just make it around 65 x 60 pixels in size.

9.4. Cannot find import;DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version File "gdiplus.dll", error 126

The gdiplus.dll is a file used by the Windows directory and is not an error within our software.
For some reason the file gdiplus.dll must have been deleted from your system.
Probably from a spyware remover or some other option. It is a needed microsoft file.
You can download and install this file from microsoft via their web site at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6A63AB9C-DF12-4D41-933C-BE590FEAA05A&displaylang=en

Or, just run a google search on the gdiplus.dll file for other locations to download this file. After installation of this file, this should take care of the error.

9.5. Where are the actual data files for the program located at?

The location of the data files for the Star Envelope Printer Pro are in the following locations:

Depending on the Operating System used, they could be located in different folders.

XP - C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)\Application Data\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro\data

VISTA/W7 - C:\Users\(YOUR USER NAME)\AppData\Roaming\StarreSoft\Star Envelope Printer Pro\data

9.6. Programs looks to run then waits and disappears.

When I installed the program and tried to run it, it looks like it wants to run, but just waits then disappears.

The problem could be the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) option in the system is not allowing this to run. To correct this, follow the options below.

Click on the Windows Start Button.
Click on the Control Panel
Click on System and Security
Click on the System Selection
Click on the Advanced System Settings
Click on the Advanced Tab
Click on the Performance Settings
Click on the Data Execution Prevention Tab
If the option is set to Turn on DEP for all programs and services except for those I select. Then you should add Star Bill of Lading to your options. To do this just follow the options below.
Click on the Add button. Browse to the folder called Program Files, then Star Envelope Printer Pro, then select starbol.exe, and click on the Open Button. Then click Apply, or OK buttons. This will add the program to the exception list. Just close the windows and try running the program again. It should execute now.

Or, you can just change the option to Turn on DEP for Essential Windows Programs and services only. Then you will need to re-boot and everything should work for you.

If this does not work for you, then more than likely your Antivirus program or Windows is thinking there is a virus in the software and will not allow it to run.  This is more than likley because of the Trial Protection wrapper that is on the Trial version of the software.  When the software is purchased, you would receive a link to a copy of the Registered version in the email after the purchase is made.  If you happen to already own the version of the software, let us know and we can provide a link to download and install the latest version.

12.6. Registration codes sent are correct.

The User Name and Registration Key that you received are correct for the version you purchased.

Here are a few things you should check.

Make sure that you copied the codes correctly. There are no letter O's in the Registration Key. They would be zeros. This is a common mistake.

Also, be sure to enter the User Name & Key exactly as received. The User Name and Key are Case Sensitive..

Check the version you installed. It must match against the information sent to you. You can check this by running the program, then clicking on the Help menu, then click on About. This will indicate the version and edition. They need to match what was purchased. Which would normally be the latest version available for download from our web site.

Check all of these options.

If after you have followed these steps and are still unable to register the program, please contact our Support Desk at http://support.starresoft.com/index.php?pg=request for further assistance.
