3.3. Adding a new workstation to an existing Network Edition installation.
These instructions will walk you through the process of installing a new workstation to an existing installation of the Star Bill of Lading Network Edition.
1. The first thing you need to find out, is what is the exact version number of the existing installs. To do this, proceed to one of the existing installed workstations and run the Star Bill of Lading application. Upon launch, you can click on the Help menu option, then About... This will show you the Version number that is installed on this workstation.
What version of the application is installed on this machine?
After you know the version, you also need to know where the database that is currently being shared on this machine (network location). The easiest way is that it is also displayed on the about screen.
Or, you can run the Workstation Configuration Setup Utility and the location will be displayed there.
Where is the shared database location?
After you have this information, you will need to obtain the installation file so you can install the application onto the new workstation. This is why it is important to find out the version number, as it needs to be the exact version number as your other machines. This installation file should have been saved previously as it was needed to install on the original workstations. If you need a copy of it, it may be available to download from the Customer Download Portal.
Then you can just install the application on the new machine. Afterwards, you can run the Workstation Configuration Setup Utility to point the workstations application to the database location.
How to run the Workstation Configuration Setup Utility
Just select or enter the actual UNC path of the shared database that you obtained previously and click on the Post button.
This should allow you to then run the Bill of Lading application and access the shared database. And you should be finished.
