11.1. Message sent out 5/7/2025 about AT&T stopping email to SMS services.
We wanted to let you know that AT&T has sent out an announcement that they will be discontinuing their Email-To-Text message. Here is a copy of their announcement.
Hi, it’s AT&T. On 6/17/2025, we’ll stop supporting email-to-text messages. That means you won’t be able to send a text messages to an AT&T customer from an email address. You can still get in touch with AT&T customers using SMS (text), MMS, and standard email services. For more info, go to www.att.com/StopEmail2Text
Because BoxMinder employs the use of this service to sent out text message to AT&T cell phones, your customers that have/use AT&T or Cricket as their providers, will not be able to receive text messages through the standard process. This is out of our hands as services keep cracking down on possible spam providers.
Unfortunately there are only two available options to this issue.
1. Stop the use of text messages to these two providers. You will need to deactivate each customer that you have in the Mailbox screen that use AT&T and Cricket. You can still employ the email notification options to these customers.
2. Sign up for an account with Twilio, which will send out all the text messages via their service, which is more reliable and simple to switch over in the BoxMinder application as soon as you establish and account with them. This will change the BoxMinder application so you will no longer need to keep track of the service providers for your customers.

All users of the services of sending text messages out to customers will need to Register with A2P 10DLC which handles the certification process to make sure users/companies do not send out Spam messaging. This process take a bit of time, so be sure to get started on this immediately.

Twilio will help you along the way from my understanding if needed. We have an account with them and the process was difficult, but probably because it was when this was first created. I believe it is easier at this time.
If you already have an established Twilio account, you can disregard this notice, as it does not pertain to you.
