1. MAC

1.1. CodeWeavers CrossOver Mac Installation

Install CrossOver on MacOS to run Window's Applications on your Mac without having a Window's License.

1.In your internet browser, go to https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover

2. Purchase or sign-up for a free 14 day trial of CrossOver Mac

3. After you purchase or sign-up for CrossOver Mac, a download should begin. With your CodeWeavers account you can also go to "My Downloads" and find your purchased products where you can click on and download your copy of CrossOver.

4. Click on the downloaded zip file and make sure 'Open with' (Archive Utility (default)) is selected. Click OK.

** If you have a newer Mac with an Apple made processor(Not an Intel Processor) you will receive a prompt to install "Rosetta". Rosetta enables Intel-based features to run on Apple Silicon Macs. More information about Rosetta can be found HERE **

5. The zip file will expand and be placed in your 'Downloads' folder in "Finder" on your Mac

6. After the download is finished, your 'DOWNLOADS' folder should open with CrossOver selected. You can also manually open the "Finder" application and navigate to the 'DOWNLOADS' folder to find CrossOver. 'Click' on the CrossOver file.

7.A prompt will appear asking if you are sure you want to open the file. Click 'OPEN'

8.Another prompt will appear. Go ahead a Click 'Move to Applications Folder'

9. After CrossOver is installed and placed into the "Applications Folder" CrossOver will ether automatically open up, or you can navigate to your "Applications" and click on CrossOver to open it.

You can then begin to install Windows Applications from their respective websites.

2. With CrossOver installed head to https://www.starresoft.com/bol.htm and purchase a copy of Star Bill of Lading. If you already have a copy of Star Bill of Lading continue to step 4.

3. If you choose to download a copy of Star Bill of Lading, you will receive an email. Click on the link towards the top to begin the download. You can also insert your install disk(CD/USB) of Star Bill of Lading to begin the process.

4. After the download finishes, you should receive a prompt to Open with "CrossOver". Click OK

5. CrossOver will open up and begin the install process of Star Bill of Lading. Make sure the bol file is selected. Then click on the tab near the top to move over to "Select Application"

6. Under "Select Application" click on 'Unlisted Application', then click Continue

7. Click INSTALL

8. The install will begin. You may receive a prompt that the application can not be verified from Apple and will ask if you'd like to move it to the trash. Click CANCEL. Otherwise Star Bill of Lading will not be installed.

9. Complete the Setup stage for Star Bill of Lading

10. After the Setup click 'Done' in the CrossOver Installer

11. You can then open up CrossOver and open and run Star Bill of Lading. (You can also drag the icon out of CrossOver and place it on your desktop)

12. Before use of Star Bill of Lading, fill out the Questionnaire

13. Once the Questionnaire is finished you can then begin using Star Bill of Lading

3. If you choose to download a copy of Star Check Writer, you will receive an email. Click on the link towards the top to begin the download. You can also insert your install disk(CD/USB) of Star Check Writer to begin the process.

4. After the download finshes, you should recieve a prompt to Open with "CrossOver". Click OK

5. CrossOver will open up and begin the install process of Star Check Writer. Make sure the chkwtrr file is selected. Then click on the tab near the top to move over to "Select Application"

6. Under "Select Application" click on 'Unlisted Application', then click Continue

7. Click INSTALL

8. The install will begin. You may recieve a prompt that the application can not be verified from Apple and will ask if you'd like to move it to the trash. Click CANCEL. Otherwise Star Check Writer will not be installed.

9. After Check Writer is installed, go through the Setup

10. Open up CrossOver and click on Star Check Writer icon to begin using Check Writer. (You can also drag the icon out of CrossOver and place it on your desktop)

1.5. Install BoxMinder with CrossOver

3. If you choose to download a copy of BoxMinder, you will recieve an email. Click on the link towards the top to begin the download. You can also insert your install disk(CD/USB) of BoxMinder to begin the process.

4. After the download finshes, you should recieve a prompt to Open with "CrossOver". Click OK

5. CrossOver will open up and begin the install process of BoxMinder. Make sure the boxminderinstall file is selected. Then click on the tab near the top to move over to "Select Application"

6. Under "Select Application" click on 'Unlisted Application', then click Continue

7. Click INSTALL

8. The install will begin. You may receive a prompt that the application can not be verified from Apple and will ask if you'd like to move it to the trash. Click CANCEL. Otherwise BoxMinder will NOT be installed.

9. After BoxMinder is installed, go through the Setup

10. Open up CrossOver and click on the BoxMinder icon. (You can also drag the icon out of CrossOver and place it on your desktop)

1.6. Install Black Hole Organizer with CrossOver

3. If you choose to download a copy of Black Hole Organizer, you will recieve an email. Click on the link towards the top to begin the download. You can also insert your install disk(CD/USB) of Black Hole Organizer to begin the process.

4. After the download finshes, you should recieve a prompt to Open with "CrossOver". Click OK

5. CrossOver will open up and begin the install process of Black Hole Organizer. Make sure the bho file is selected. Then click on the tab near the top to move over to "Select Application"

6. Under "Select Application" click on 'Unlisted Application', then click Continue

7. Click INSTALL

8. The install will begin. You may recieve a prompt that the application can not be verified from Apple and will ask if you'd like to move it to the trash. Click CANCEL. Otherwise Black Hole Organizer will not be installed.

9. After Black Hole Organizer is installed, go through the Setup

10. Open up CrossOver and click on the Black Hole Organizer icon. (You can also drag the icon out of CrossOver and place it on your desktop)

11. You can then begin using Black Hole Organizer

2.1. Codeweavers CrossOver Linux Installation

Install GDebi package installer and CodeWeaver's CrossOver
1. Open up the TERMINAL: Ctrl + Alt + T
2. Activate the universe repository:

sudo add-apt-repository universe

3. Update the package list:

sudo apt-get update

4. Install gdebi-core:

sudo apt-get install gdebi-core

5. Install gdebi package

sudo apt-get install gdebi

Make sure to type "Y" to continue when prompt

Gdebi package installer will identify if any dependent package is also required before installation

6. Get a copy of CodeWeavers CrossOver for Linux https://www.codeweavers.com/?ad=855

7. Unlocking CrossOver Linux

7a. Standard unlocking process
After you purchase a CrossOver Linux subscription to can unlock CrossOver and remove its 14-day timer.

Launch CrossOver Linux, go to the Help menu, and choose Unlock CrossOver. Enter the same email and password as you use to login to your codeweavers.com account.

7b. Unlocking using an activation code
If you received an activation code to unlock CrossOver go through the standard unlocking process above, but click the Enter an Activation Code... button and fill in the information in the dialog. This will create your codeweavers.com account and attach the activation code to your account. You can also attach the activation code to your account on this webpage( https://www.codeweavers.com/store/register/ ).

In the future if you need to unlock CrossOver you can just use your codeweavers.com email address & password. The activation code is only used once.

7c. Unlocking using a Generated Code
"Finally you can visit "My Orders" ( https://www.codeweavers.com/account/edit?inp=orders ) and click the Generate CrossOver Linux License button.
Unzip the downloaded file, and copy the two license.* files into /opt/cxoffice/etc to unlock CrossOver Linux.

Installing the .deb package on Ubuntu, Mint, or Debian
Debian based systems

8a.1 Graphical Install
Download the CrossOver .deb package from "My Downloads" ( https://www.codeweavers.com/account/downloads ). Right-click the .deb file and Open With>Gdebi

8a.2 Select GDebi Package Installer if not already selected

8a.3 With the Package Installer open, Install CrossOver.

If your distribution doesn't have Gdebi pre-installed, you can do the Terminal Install instead.

8b. Terminal Install (If Gdebi is installed ignore this step and move to step 9.)
Using a terminal, navigate to the directory you downloaded crossover.deb to, then install CrossOver using apt:

sudo apt install ./crossover.deb

9. After you have successfully installed CrossOver, it should appear in your 'APPLICATIONS'

You can now open CrossOver and begin running Windows programs after they are installed on your machine.

10. When installing a program for the first time with CrossOver, it may need to install additional packages in order for your Windows software to run.
Click "Yes"

Additional Information

If you already have CrossOver installed you can go through these same steps to upgrade. Download and install the .deb again and you'll be updated to the newest binaries.

8. Before use of Star Bill of Lading, fill out the quick Questionnaire

9. Once the Questionnaire is finished, you can then begin using Star Bill of Lading.

2.5. Install BoxMinder using CrossOver

3. Once you have completed the setup, the Linux virtual machine will begin installing.

4. Once the install is complete, we are going to install CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) in the Linux Terminal. This will allow you to connect to a printer on your network while using the Linux (Beta) VM on your Chromebook.
Note: This is needed because using software in the virtual machine will not detect a printer that is already connected to you Chromebook.

4a. Open up the Linux Terminal

4b. Enter the command: sudo apt-get update (This will insure all your packages are up to date)

4c. Enter command: sudo apt install cups

4c.1. After CUPS downloads, in the Terminal you will be asked if you wish to continue with the install. Enter command: Y

4e. Enter Command: xhost +

4f. Enter Command: sudo system-config-printer (This will then open a GUI to allow you to configure what printer you would like to connect to on your network)

4i. After you select your printer click OK or test that everything is working. If something doesn't work correctly and you close this window by mistake just reenter the command: sudo system-config-printer to open the setup again.

3.10. Making your Printer available with CUPS in the Linux(beta) VM on Chrome OS

CUPS - Common UNIX Printing System

CUPS is the standards-based, open source printing system developed by Apple Inc. for macOS^® and other UNIX^®-like operating systems. CUPS uses the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) to support printing to local and network printers.

This will allow you to connect to a printer on your network while using the Linux (Beta) VM on your Chromebook.
Note: This is needed because using software in the virtual machine will not detect a printer that is already connected to you Chromebook. You will not be able to printer your BOL's, checks, envelopes, etc. without it.

1. Open up the Linux Terminal

2. Enter the command: sudo apt-get update (This will insure all your packages are up to date)

3. Enter command: sudo apt install cups
