Install Star Purchase Orders on Chrome OS using CrossOver
1. Make sure you have CodeWeavers CrossOver program installed on your Chromebook with the Linux (Beta) VM. If you do not have CrossOver yet installed, please use this link to get help with installing CrossOver to run Windows applications on your Chromebook. https://starresoft.helpspot.com/index.php?pg=kb.book&id=5
2. With CrossOver installed, head to https://www.starresoft.com/po.htm and purchase a copy of Star Purchase Orders.
3. If you choose to download a copy of Star Purchase Orders, you will receive an email. Click on the link towards the top to begin the download. You can also insert your install disk(CD/USB) of Star Purchase Orders to begin the process.
4. After the download finishes, the .exe file will be located in your downloads folder in your files app. You will need to drag the file from the Downloads and place it into the Linux files folder. Otherwise it will not be located by CrossOver for the install.
**The same thing will need to be done if you are using a CD/USB install disk. Just drag the .exe file from your CD/USB install disk into the Linux files folder.**
5. Open up CrossOver, and click on the Install Windows Software button.
6. Under the "Select an Installer Source" page, click on the "Choose Installer File". A window should pop up. Navigate to the "Home" folder. There you should find the .exe file. Make sure it is selected and click OPEN.
7. That will link the .exe file in CrossOver. Make sure the spor.exe file is selected.
8. Under "Select Application" select "Unlisted application" then click Continue.
9. Click Install to begin installing Star Purchase Orders. Note: *If this is the first time you are using CrossOver to install software, it may need to install additional Linux Packages in order to run Windows applications. Click Yes to allow it.(This may take a few minutes to install)*
10. After the install finishes you will be asked to go through the Setup for Star Purchase Orders.
11. When you complete the Setup, you can then open up CrossOver and click on the Star Purchase Orders icon. You can then begin using Star Purchase Orders.
Additional info: After the installation is finished you can find the applications you installed with CrossOver in your "App drawer" in the "Linux Apps" folder and open them from there. You can also drag from this location and pin them to your dock if you wish. **WARNING** If you have not installed CUPS and connected a printer to the Linux VM, you will NOT be able to print your purchase orders. (Use this LINK and follow the steps to configure your printer.)
